about phoenix

Phoenix Karaka is truly one of the youngest and most exciting defensive prospects on the New Zealand Netball scene.

With an ability to perform at both GK and GD, Phoenix secured her first premier netball contract with the Southern Steel in 2012 after impressive campaigns with both NZ Secondary Schools in 2010 and NZ Under 21 in 2012 & 2013, including their victory at the Youth World Cup in Glasgow.

Phoenix was then catapulted into the Silver Ferns for their 2014 Tour of Britain, making her test debut in their 17 goal defeat against England, earning her the coveted title of Silver Fern #155.

Having played 3 seasons with the Invercargill-based Southern Steel, exciting opportunities in Wellington led to her becoming a part of the 2016 Central Pulse team, where she has recently re-signed for the 2017 ANZ Championship and is committed to becoming a quality all-round defender, and defensive stalwart for both the Pulse and Silver Ferns.
